Friends listening to one another in a home gathering

For the one who said yes

Host Guide.

Hosting is not about teaching or following a script. Open your home. Welcome the people God puts in front of you.

The LIT Gathering Guide carries the rhythm; you carry the relationships.

Pray Daily · Gather Weekly · Overflow.

You do not run a program. You welcome people into relationship with one another and with Jesus Christ.

Building Holy Community

01

Before They Arrive

  • Open Today's LIT Gathering Guide and skim it once. That is the preparation.
  • Arrange the room for conversation—ideally chairs in a circle.
  • Water or coffee is enough. Hospitality is an open door, not a perfect house.
  • Put phones away. Begin and end on time.

02

Invite Personally

People over pixels.

Digital tools help us remember people; they do not replace relationship. Texting is good. When appropriate, call. A real invitation from a real person is more powerful than another notification.

03

A Guide, Not a Script

Relationship over program.

LIVE IT Today begins the day personally; the group brings that Word into shared life. If a question opens a meaningful conversation, stay with it. Do not rush people because another item is next. Gently move things forward when needed, end on time, and always protect the final five minutes for prayer.

The host's reflex

GO VERTICAL!

When real life breaks into the conversation, do not merely talk about it. Bring it to Jesus right then.

A parent is dying. A job is lost. A marriage is hurting. A child is struggling. Someone shares grief, fear, distress, or serious need.

Stop. Pray for that person now. Do not wait for the formal prayer section. Do not try to fix everything.

“Can we pray for that right now?”

People over pixels. Relationship over program. Jesus in the middle of real life.

04

Host the Room

  • You are a host, not a teacher. Listen with real interest.
  • Resist explaining, correcting, or solving everything. Welcome silence.
  • It is fine if not everyone speaks. If someone dominates, gently make room for others.
  • When conversation becomes merely opinion or wanders meaninglessly, re-center it on the Gospel.
  • Gather if only one person comes. Kids are part of life; do not apologize for your family.

05

Land in Prayer

Protect the final five minutes.

Even when conversation has been excellent, gently turn the room toward prayer. If possible, stand and form a circle. Invite intentions. After each, respond together:

“Lord, hear our prayer.”

Our Father · Hail Mary · Glory Be

06

Afterward

Thank people for coming. Notice who was missing and personally reconnect where appropriate.

When someone shares illness, grief, job loss, family difficulty, or spiritual distress, check in afterward. A simple call or text—“How are you doing?”—can matter enormously.

People over pixels.

People in this LIT Group

Remember the person, not the record.

Your LIT Group in Mission Control holds the invitations, people asking to belong, people you have welcomed, and conversations still needing care. Use it to remember whom to call, welcome, or reconnect with—never as a substitute for doing so personally.
